Tom Svilans joins Omtre as a Project Associate with a background in architectural design, digital fabrication, and research. Tom has taught and lectured internationally and has extensive experience in high-level research in several international and multi-disciplinary research projects. Through his PhD, he has worked with key industry players in timber architecture and construction such as Blumer Lehman AG in Switzerland and White Arkitekter in Sweden. Tom brings a deep knowledge of digital fabrication, materiality, and computational design modelling to our team. At Omtre, Tom focuses on our Horizon Europe projects Drastic and CIRCULess, where he applies his expertise in digital design and fabrication to encourage sustainable construction practices. His work emphasizes the consideration of the entire timber value chain – from forestry to final construction – and seeks to integrate emerging imaging and communication technologies that may enhance the design and manufacturing of engineered timber elements.
